I hope this finds all of you healthy and well – it is great to see signs of Spring bursting forth!
Attached is the draft agenda for our next meeting on March 18, 2024 at 4:00 PM (please note new earlier time). Please email any suggested additions or changes for the agenda to me.
At this month’s meeting we will be focused on our VDOF Grant project tasks, new activities related to increasing public awareness of FOLO and our activities, sending a letter to Governor Youngkin to sign legislation for giving greater authority to local governments for tree protection that has passed both the State House and Senate this session, making plans for participating in the City’s Earth Day Celebration, and submitting a potential grant to help extend the reach of our financial resources to reestablish an annual tree adoption program!
We also are continuing to work with our Environmental Studies Program Academy student volunteers on some research related to tree protection laws for Virginia and how effective the City of Virginia Beach is at using this enabling authority. It’s a great time to get involved with us on these and other efforts! We welcome your ideas and input and hope you will join us in person or virtually.
This month we will again meet in person at the Virginia Beach Public Schools Environmental Studies Program Academy located at the easternmost end of Brock Environmental Center (address is 3663 Marlin Bay Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23455). We also have the option to participate in the meeting by Zoom. The link to the March 18 Zoom meeting is as follows:
