Fun was had by all retrieving 35 small saplings from Wesminister-Canterbury yesterday!

Chris, Nadine & Clay working on the largest one – a thriving live oak volunteer that needed to get some TLC by transplanting on site.

Thanks to our partnership with McDonalds Garden Center we used 7 bags of their Natural & Organic Potting Soil. They donated 150 bags for our partnership with AREC & VDOF to build an inventory of live oaks from Virginia Beach.

AREC is the vital Virginia Tech HAMPTON ROADS AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH AND EXTENSION CENTER.

VDOF is the Virginia Department of Forestry.

The City and any interested individuals, community organizations and neighborhood groups will be conducting a Part II to the Pleasure House Point Tree Sapling Relocation Project.

We are scheduled for Tuesday, March 4th from 9 am-2 pm.

We are looking for volunteers to help locate, dig, and pot native trees and shrubs located in the Pleasure House Point Wetlands Mitigation Project Zone.

These trees will then be managed and transplanted by The Friends of Live Oaks & Lynnhaven River NOW.

The thorny sticker bushes couldn’t stop the dedicated volunteers from getting to several larger saplings.
