MARCH 2 9am JOIN FOLO!
Where: Brock Environmental Center 3663 Marlin Bay Drive Virginia Beach.
What: To dig up live oak saplings. The saplings will be roughly a foot to maybe 3 feet tall including roots.

Friends of Live Oaks(FOLO) is partnering with Virginia Department of Forestry(VDOF), Hampton Roads Agricultural Research Extension Center(AREC) and McDonald Garden Center to increase & diversify the inventory of live oaks available for purchase by the public.
You’ll learn how to identify live oak saplings.
Dress for outside work where you may get dirty & there might be bugs or weather. Shoes & socks or boots, gloves if you prefer and bring a shovel if possible. We’ll supply the pots, potting soil & fun.

Can we keep any?
Thank you for the question! This sapling dig is for our partnership to help expand the gene pool & create inventory for our partner Virginia Department of Forestry(VDOF) to be able sell live oaks for the first time in a couple maybe 3 years.
